Look Good, Feel Good, Run Better.

For Steve Jobs it’s the black turtle neck, Laura it’s the zip up hoodie, Jake it’s the groutfit. Unfortunately, we are not Steve Jobs, Laura or Jake but we sure can emulate them.  Simplifying and streamlining the thought and preparation that goes into the run is pivotal. I have product tested the endless fitness brands available and have fine-tuned the perfect uniform for my stride.

We will start from the top and work our way down. The bra. Okay ladies, I am not well endowed by any means, but yes my boobies are very high on my chest.  This all hit me in the face when I was running in a Barry’s class and able to stare at myself the entire time in the mirror(I had a near panic attack as I realized what clients were seeing as I was instructing and Thoroughbred…hello bounce).

Holy SH*t. Lululemon, when I am working out, I do not want cleavage, I want coverage, support, and security.  From that class on, I Marie Kondo’d all my ‘Energy’ bras, all my ‘Free to be Bras’, and everything and anything that wasn’t the Outdoor Voice’s Doing Thing’s bra.  I’m telling ya, this bra is life changing, it’s simple, and it’s the best sports bra you will ever own.  I am not sure who decided we wanted tons of straps, zippers, and confusing crisscross lace on our sports bras but I’m sure it wasn’t a woman because yo girl just wants a piece of equipment that will help lock em down.  The Doing Things bra goes back to the grass roots of a sports bra about a decade ago, and I am about it.

Okay, now that I talked about not liking Lululemon sports bras, I will praise them for their In Movement shorts. Ladies, I get comments all the time saying, ‘I wish I could wear those shorts you wear.’  Here’s the deal, all ya gotta do to wear these shorts is buy the damn shorts. If you have a body, you rock the body.  I love the In Movement short for the waist band and they don’t ride up… ok they may ride up for the first couple strides but once you get sticky and sweaty they stay put.

My stance socks serve a huge purpose in my indoor stride as well. Because I am not wearing the long running tights that most gals sport, the socks catch all my sweat before hitting the treadmill. I am a big sweater(which is only stressful for the longevity of my fake tan) so I need something to decrease any chances of foot strike slippage. The Uncommon Run Crew socks soak my sweat and gives me a cute lil flare.

I don’t deviate from my uniform. I lay it out the night before quickly and easily with no thought because each article of clothing has been thoroughly chosen for a reason. My run is a routine my wardrobe is a routine, my fuel is a routine.

Ps. Shirt is always optional amirite? #shedtheshirt. When I am on the podium and being modest I wear the Swiftly tank from Lululemon.
